Mr. Ngugi has expertise in litigation and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration. Among other areas of law, Mr. Ngugi practices Corporate & Commercial Law, Contract Law, Property and Real estate law, Tax Law and leads Igeria & Ngugi’s Corporate Commercial Practice Group

Mr. Ngugi graduated from University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Law degree and was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court in 2003. He further holds a Global Executive MBA (GEMBA) with United States International University (USIU) / Frankfurt School of Business and Finance and has attended several professional courses in his areas of practice

He is also involved in corporate governance issues having been trained by the Centre for Corporate Governance (CCG) Kenya and currently is a member of the Institute of Directors (IOD), Kenya: He sits in several Boards as an Independent Director, and is routinely contacted to conduct Corporate Governance Audits.

Mr “Mt. Kilimanjaro”, Benson loves the outdoors, experiencing it with extensive hiking, mountaineering and recreational running. He also enjoys the occasional CrossFit challenge.

NOTABLE ASSIGNMENTS.

  • Retained by the trustee to advise on the structure of the Mezzanine debt to be undertaken by a Collective Investment Scheme (CIS). We carried out the structuring in conjunction with KN Law LLP and Due Diligence on each of the Project that the CIS was investing and reviewed the security documents and carried out the registration of the same.
  • Retained by the Regulator to provide guidance on the surrender of Spectrum by a holder of a license and to provide advice on the nature of assignment and transfer of surrendered spectrum. The Firm also provided input on gaps in the current legislation & international best practice in the final opinion provided.
  • Retained by a top Bank in Kenya to advice on risk management for a mobile phone loan product for the purposes of ensuring compliance with both the Banking Act and the Insurance Act and the accompanying Regulation, Guidelines and Policies.
  • Assisted a multinational Mattress Manufacturing company in the acquisition of a 33% stake in a Kenyan subsidiary in a bid to consolidate control of the entity. We also advised on the restructure of its Employees during the pandemic.
  • Advisory and review of the first demand guarantee for a Multinational Tech company that was seeking 18,000,000 Euros facility from the European Investment Bank Assisted in the ensuring all the Conditions precedent were met.
